The gear CORSAIR and Elgato put into Streamer University is a useful reference precisely because it was chosen to teach with. Everything in it is plug-and-play: a USB microphone, a USB camera, and a control surface. There is no audio interface, no mixer and no patching, because the point was to get a room full of new streamers live without troubleshooting signal chains.
That makes it a realistic template for a first serious setup. The Elgato Wave:3 is a USB condenser with an onboard mixer, so it handles its own conversion and needs nothing between it and the computer. The Facecam replaces a webcam-plus-capture-card chain with a single USB connection. The Stream Deck removes the need to alt-tab mid-stream. Each choice trades ceiling for reliability, which is the correct trade when you are starting out.
The upgrade path matters more than the starting point. A USB condenser picks up room noise a dynamic microphone would reject, so untreated rooms tend to push creators toward XLR eventually — and that is the moment you need an audio interface or a mixer with XLR inputs. Planning for that early is cheaper than replacing a full chain later.
If you are pairing this with a console rather than a single PC, the capture side changes: a console needs a capture card between it and your streaming machine, and party chat has to be routed separately because it comes through the controller rather than HDMI.
